What is a Legume?

Legumes are a pod, such as that of a pea or bean, that splits into two valves with the seeds attached to one edge of the valves. These are also known as Pinto beans, Black beans, Red beans, Navy beans, Kidney beans, Garbanzo beans, Great northern white beans, Lima beans, Mung beans, and Soybeans.  And they all contain lectins (specialized proteins). All plant foods contain lectins but the lectins in grains (such as wheat), dairy and legumes cause an inflammatory response in your body (skin, joint, reproductive, allergies and more health related issues) by allowing undigested protein molecules to infiltrate your digestive tract and trigger an autoimmune response which is a situation characterized by the familiar term, leaky gut syndrome.

Leaky gut is a condition where your intestines become permeable and larger particles are able to enter the bloodstream. Our body then sees that those particles are foreign and attacks them while attacking regular healthy cells at the same time and compromising the immune system. This leaky gut situation also causes digestive and intestinal problems.

So just like the  Whole 9 Program  said “Legumes are often recommended as a healthy dietary choice, based on their fiber, vitamins and minerals, and “high” protein content. But legumes aren’t really a dense protein source (most contain two to three times as much carbohydrate as protein), and they’re nowhere near as dense (or complete) as the protein found in meat, seafood, or eggs. In addition, when compared to vegetables and fruit, legumes pale in comparison in both micro-nutrient density and fiber.”

Since  I removed the legumes from my diet, as well as the processed and commercially prepared foods I have lost a substantial amount of weight.  However this isn’t the only awesomeness to happen, I am confident that it has helped heal my bowel issues and I don’t have the food sensitivity,  allergies and migraines that I use to.  All of these things use to be a daily issue for me.   This is Truly amazing, that is what I think!
