Chicken soup has always been the go to when I don’t feel well. After a season of holiday revelry, cold and flu season lurking ready to spoil all the fun. Even after we get our flu shots, there is always another strain we can get it seems. But a new study finds that chicken soup can cure what ails you, just like my mother told me. Today I was feeling under the weather and this was a perfect touch.

Did you know research published in the American Journal of Therapeutics finds that a compound in chicken soup called carnosine can help strengthen the body’s immune system to fight off flu in its early stages . But you’ll need to consume a steady supply throughout your illness for the effect to work is what they say. It is documented that chicken soup has a mild anti-inflammatory effect that reduced symptoms of upper respiratory tract infections as well.

At the very least, chicken soup provides hydration, nutrition, and that soul satisfying boost to make us feel better. So make your self up a batch of goodness.

Chicken soup

3 pounds chicken
8-10 whole carrots
4-6 stalks of celery
1 pound fresh spinach
1 1/2 cup of Bella mushrooms
1 small onion
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp garlic
1 1/2 tsp of Rosemary

3 Quarts Pacific Organic Chicken broth

Slice carrots & celery desired length and size. Dice onion and slice mushrooms.
Cut chicken into bite size pieces.
Place chicken into crockpot, add all veggies ( carrots, celery, onion, mushroom and spinach) and add garlic and spices. Finally, pour chicken broth on top. Cook on low 10 hours and enjoy!!!!!

I love my crockpot it’s the easiest way to cook my family dinner.
